Social Share Popup: Overview and Requirements
The Social Share Popup add-on for Instant Popup Builder lets you display a popup that encourages visitors to share the page they are currently viewing.
The popup can include sharing options for platforms such as Facebook, X, WhatsApp, Telegram, LinkedIn, Email, and Copy Link. Visitors complete the share action through the selected platform’s official share flow.
What the add-on does
The Social Share Popup displays a modal share card on your website. Depending on your settings, visitors can:
- Share the current page on supported social platforms
- Send the page by email
- Copy the page link to their clipboard
- View the page URL in a read-only field
The add-on does not post automatically on behalf of visitors. When a visitor clicks a share button, the relevant platform, browser window, or mail app opens so the visitor can complete the action.
Requirements
Before using Social Share Popup, make sure:
- Instant Popup Builder is installed and active.
- Social Share Popup is installed and active.
- If your site uses license activation, the Social Share Popup license is activated in the Instant Popup Builder license area.
What gets shared
The shared URL and title are based on the page the visitor is viewing when the popup appears.
For posts, pages, products, and similar singular content, the popup uses the page permalink and title.
For WooCommerce product pages, when WooCommerce is active, the popup uses the product URL and product title.
For archives, blog pages, and other views, the popup uses a best-effort current URL and the document title.
Privacy note
When visitors use a social sharing option, they are sent to a third-party platform such as Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Telegram, or WhatsApp. These services may have their own privacy policies, cookies, and tracking behavior.
The Email option uses the visitor’s local email app. The add-on does not store share events in its own database tables.
