How to Add a Countdown Timer to Subscription Popups

Instant Popups: Countdown Timer allows you to add urgency to your subscription popups by displaying a customizable countdown overlay. The timer appears at the top of the subscription popup and counts down in real time.

This feature is useful for limited-time offers, flash deals, exclusive downloads, early-bird signups, and other time-sensitive campaigns.

Adding a Countdown to a Subscription Popup

Step 1: Open the Popup Editor

1. In your WordPress admin dashboard, go to Instant Popups > Add New.
2. Create a new Subscription Popup, or edit an existing subscription popup.
3. Open the popup editor.

Step 2: Open Subscription Settings

1. In the Popup settings panel, go to  Subscription.
2. Look for the Countdown Timer section.

The Countdown settings appear only for subscription popups when the required plugins are active.

Step 3: Enable the Countdown

In the Countdown Timer section, enable the countdown overlay.

Once enabled, the timer will appear as an orange gradient overlay at the top of your subscription popup.

Step 4: Set the Countdown Duration

Configure the countdown duration using the available time fields:

• Days
• Hours
• Minutes
• Seconds

For example, you can set the timer to run for 1 day, 2 hours, 30 minutes, and 0 seconds.

The timer updates in real time while the popup is displayed to visitors.

Step 5: Save and Preview the Popup

After configuring the countdown timer:

1. Save your popup settings.
2. Preview the popup on your website.
3. Confirm that the countdown appears at the top of the subscription popup.
4. Check that the timer counts down correctly.

What Happens When the Timer Expires?

When the countdown reaches zero:

• The countdown overlay displays “Offer Expired!”
• The subscription form submit button is disabled

This prevents visitors from submitting the subscription form after the offer or campaign has expired.
